Jeremy Trevor Holden. Not many people have heard the name, but the entire country has seen his face. Not because of fame or fortune or because he was some kind of celebrity. Millions of people became familiar with Jeremy's face when a photo of him and some of his fellow fire fighters standing amongst the rubble at Ground Zero was published in newspapers across the country in the days following the September 11th attacks.

Born September 16, 1975 in New York, New York; Jeremy was the middle child, and only boy, of Joseph and Christina Holden. When Jeremy was six years old their neighbor's home caught on fire in the middle of the night. Woken up by the commotion, the Holden family stood and watched helplessly and their friends' home burned to the ground, with a teenaged daughter....Jeremy's babysitter....was trapped inside. Little Jeremy watched in fear, and wonder, as one of the fire fighters on scene raced into the burning building and came back out only moments later with the young girl in his arms. That moment was a defining one in Jeremy's life. Every little boy goes through that stage when they're young. The one where they want to be a firefighter. The difference is that most of them outgrown it, but Jeremy was one of the few who never did. After graduation from high school he applied, and was accepted, to CUNY John Jay College Criminal Justice where he majored in fire science. During his sophomore year he applied to take the exam to become a FDNY firefighter and finally took the exams his senior year. Only a year after earning his degree, he finally realized his dream when he was hired as a FDNY fire fighter.

In the years between knowing what he wanted to do when he grew up and finally accomplishing it, Jeremy lived a fairly typical and slightly boring life. Being the only boy in his family, he made sure to give his parents a run for their money. From the word go Jeremy was a rough and tumble little boy. Even without the plans he'd made in childhood, his family wasn't surprised at his career path. Anything physical that put him a risk and gave him an adrenaline rush, he was ready to sign up for. By the time he was ten he'd already earned two broken arms as well as a broken leg, and once he hit high school he continued to get minor injuries almost weekly as a member of the football team.

Even now, he is no stranger to injuries. After watching that firefighter all those years before, Jeremy has strived to be just like the man he'd seen save his neighbor. He can't stand the thought of losing a victim so he is more often than not the one to go into a building to make sure everyone got out safe. Because of his determination and fearless attitude, he's gotten injured more than once on the job. It drives his chief crazy and has earned him more than one lecture, but no matter what anyone says or does, Jeremy can't change who he is. As long as he is a firefighter and committed to saving lives, he will do whatever it takes to make sure he saves as many as he can.
